Not a bad looking town - gets better - gets even better - gets even better again - lovely narrow streets turned into pedestrian thoroughfares - nice hotel - store the luggage - head off for coffee on the renovated square - fantastic
- down towards the river to the markets - buy a hat - Bernie buys some shorts - across the river - back into town - the statue of the arc of the convenant-
only 12:00 but square is beautiful - must celebrate with a g&t do so with gusto - best one so far.
This is May - wedding after wedding in the church on the square - people beautifully dressed - this is also May for the kids - lots of toddlers playing in the water streams that are set up in the middle of the square - parents sit patiently as the kids have the time of their lives - this is the start of Spring and they love it!
Back to the room for a sleep
Reappear for dinner - those thunder claps and the overcast sky's will not last - let's select an outside table on the square - down comes the rain - escape faster than the other diners and snare a prime table on the window - great meal - great time and great wine - cannot leave it there - over to another restaurant in the square for a final G&T
Off to bed ......
Arise early - another stroll around town - the square again the focus - people arrive for Sunday church - something special today - all the 16 year old boys arrive in their Sunday finery - not sure what it was but the families were all fussing over them.
Back to the hotel - call a taxi - get to rail station - meet nice Austrian lady - tells us that Gyor has only been renovated in the last 5 years - a great place - a credit ot the town - a break on our trip back to Vienna from Budapest - well worth it
